The water it lives often appears tea-coloured, with a pH of 6.5-7.0[(#1)]. It is never found in polluted waters and seems to be relatively stenotopic[(#1)]. Two collected specimens were obtained from '... under large stones at the edge of a small stream at an altitude of 2000 ft' (Kemp, 1918).
